Felted party-panda

I made this little bear as a birthday gift for my friend’s 5-year-old daughter, and hope she’ll like it.

The panda is based on one of the models in the book Sweet Needle Felts by Jenn Doherty, a great book I found on a book sale this fall.  Instead of just gluing the hat together, I decided to add a ribbon and sew it properly before attaching an elastic band so that it became a removable garment for the little panda.

The panda measures 12.5 cm and the party hat is 4.5 cm. The limbs are attached by 9 mm buttons and are mobile. The eyes are actual teddy bear eyes (3 mm) on wire.

I think it turned out cute, and it was fun to discover a new way of making teddy bears.
